Mumbai, Oct 28: Bombay High Court on Thursday granted relief to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede.
The High Court has stayed his immediate arrest for the time being. The HC has said that three days before the arrest, Wankhede will have to be informed by giving notice. Meanwhile, the High Court has also given permission to Mumbai Police to continue the investigation of the case.
A bench of Justices Nitin Jamdar and SV Kotwal ordered the state government to not take any drastic action at the moment and to give three days’ prior notice before taking any coercive action against Wankhede.
Notably, NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who is probing the Aryan Khan case, had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, against the investigation started against him by the Mumbai Police on the complaint of Prabhakar Sail. Wankhede had sought relief from the High Court and has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. However, Bombay HC disposed Wankhede’s petition seeking a probe by the CBI in the money extortion allegations levelled against him in connection with the cruise party drug case.
