Patna, Oct 19: A new issue was purportedly started by a question that distinguished Kashmir from India on a Class 7 question paper in a Bihar school.
From October 12 to October 18, the Bihar government’s Education Department administered midterm exams to children in grades 1-8. In the English exam, the students of Class 7 were asked: “What are the people of the following countries called? One is done for you.”
The question in the paper was, “If the people of China are called Chinese, what are the people of Nepal, England, Kashmir, and India called?” The question paper used China as an example.
Students in the districts of Araria, Kishanganj, and Katihar supposedly answered this question.
“We got this (paper) from the Bihar Education Board. The question had to ask what are the people of Kashmir called? But, it mistakenly carried what are people of the country of Kashmir called? This was human error,” Head Teacher SK Das clarified.
Educationists and BJP politicians have said the situation is a conspiracy, and they have asked the Union Education Minister to look into it.
