Ranchi, Aug.10: The Bihar police arrested Maoist Political Bureau (Politburo) member along with another Maoist from Gaya in Bihar and have started interrogating them.
Though there is no official confirmation of the arrest, a source in the police said the arrest took place when the Maoist top gun visited one of his close friends in the district.
Mishra is a big name for the Maoist organization. He remained in jail for years. He suddenly disappeared after being released from jail. On May 3, 2023, the NIA raided the residence and relatives of Mishra.
In the month of February this year, Mishra had appointed Maoist Misir Besra, who is carrying a bounty of Rs one crore, supreme commander of the Eastern Regional Bureau (ERB) covering Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, UP and Eastern India with its headquarter in Saranda.
The meeting of the Central Committee members was held in Saranda. In the same meeting, Misir Besra was elected as the supreme commander of the ERB. After the meeting, top Maoist Pramod Mishra left Saranda.
This is the second time Mishra has been arrested. Earlier, he was arrested from Dhanbad in the year 2009. The STF of Jharkhand Police had arrested him from Vinod Nagar in Dhanbad on March 14, 2009. Politburo member Pramod Mishra alias Pramod Pandit alias Ban Bihari alias BBG was taking shelter at his relative’s place in Vinod Nagar when he was arrested.
