Patna: Aspiring artists in Bihar will no longer need to travel to Delhi to study drama, as the Central government has approved the establishment of a new National School of Drama (NSD) campus in the state, with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary expressing gratitude to PM Modi and Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the development.

The Chief Minister said the establishment of a drama academy campus in Bihar marks an important step for the state’s art and theatre landscape, noting that it would help bring national recognition to Bihar’s theatrical traditions while creating new opportunities for local artists.
CM Highlights Bihar’s Rich Cultural Legacy
Referring to Bihar’s cultural heritage, Chaudhary said the state’s land has given rise to great figures such as Kalidas, Ramvriksh Benipuri and Bhikhari Thakur, noting that Bihar’s folk theatre and performing arts traditions hold a distinct identity of their own, one that the new NSD campus will help carry forward.
New Campus to Provide Professional Training Opportunities
With the National School of Drama’s new campus set to begin operations in the state, young people from Bihar will no longer need to travel outside for professional training in drama and theatre. The campus will offer institutional facilities for stagecraft, performing arts and related research, particularly benefiting youth aspiring to build careers in acting, theatre and stage-related fields.
