BIT Mesra to celebrate 50 years of Dept of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology

Three-day carnival from Dec 16 to bring together former faculty members and alumni

Ranchi, Dec 14: The Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra on Wednesday announced the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology at BIT Mesra at a press conference. The department is going to celebrate its Golden Jubilee from December 16–18 at BIT premises.

Established in the year 1972, it is one of the oldest departments in the eastern region of the country and the first in the state of Jharkhand, imparting quality pharmacy education, informed officials.

On this occasion, a three-day carnival is being organised which will be attended by the former Heads of the Department, Professors, Staff and illustrious alumni contingent of the past 50 years.

Ajit Singh, Chairman of Associated Capsules Group-Worldwide will be the Chief Pharma Patron of the department for the Golden Jubilee celebrations. O P Singh, Group CEO, Akums Drugs & Pharmaceutical Ltd, has also given consent to grace the occasion as Chief Guest.

The department believes that current students will reap the benefits by interacting with the stalwarts of the pharma profession from numerous networking sessions during the function, said the officials.

The organising committee comprised of a team of faculty members, staff, research scholars, students and alumni representatives, have been working for over a year now under the guidance of Prof B N Sinha, Chairman, GJC; Prof Swastika Ganguly, HoD & Chief-Coordinator, GJC; Prof Papiya Mitra Mazumder, Organising Secretary, GJC and Dr Soumitra Banerjee, Convenor, GJC and Alumni of 1979 batch.
