Dhanbad, May 30: The faculty members and students of BIT Sindri on Tuesday carried out a comprehensive waste plastic collection campaign to make the campus clean and green.
The campaign ‘Mission Life’ under BIT director Dr DK Singh carried out for more than three hours in the morning (9 am to 12 noon) on the campus, especially in the surrounding area of the hostel, administrative building and other parts of the institution.
BIT director Dr Singh, on the occasion, said that the objective of the drive was to make people aware of the ill effects of single-use plastic and to curb its use in human interest as well as the environment.
Senior faculty member-cum-chairman of Career Development Centre (CDC) Dr Ghanshyam said that under the director Dr Singh besides senior teachers students of the institution also participated in the campaign actively and also took a pledge to achieve the mission of a clean and green campus by making it free from single plastic.

“We not only collect waste single plastic but also made students aware about checking pollution, construction of smart building, maximum use of solar energy avoiding power consumption and walking on foot in the campus rather than by vehicle,” said Prof Ghanshyam.
Prof RK Verma ( HoD physics), Prof BD Yadav ( Prof in-charge Eco Club), Dr Swati Tomar ( Eco Club) along with other faculty members, staff of the institution and students participated in the drive.
The Eco Club president and the secretary said that the campaign would continue even out of campus for awareness among common people about the negative impact of single-use plastic and the benefit of a clean environment in a healthy life.
