BIT Sindri senior faculty member passes away

Dhanbad July 7: Senior faculty member of BIT Sindri Prof Dheeraj Jha of the Mechanical Engineering Department passed away at his campus-based quarter on Friday morning.

Prof Jha (48) had been suffering from mouth cancer for the last five years and had returned to Sindri from Medica  Hospital Ranchi on Thursday night. The family members said in the morning today he passed away.

Prof Dheeraj Jha, assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering Department had joined BIT Sindri in 2006. He was a resident of  Jhajha in the Jamui district of  Bihar and left behind two sons and a widow.

A BIT Sindri official said as per Prof Jha’s last wish his body was taken away to Jhajha for last rites.

Getting information about the death of Prof  Jha, BIT Sindri director Dr DK Singh, senior faculty members of the institution  Dr Ghanshyam ( TOP head), Prof Upendra Prasad, Dr Rakesh, Dr Jitu Kujur, Dr Rajiv Kumar Verma, Dr SP Mishra reached his residence on the campus and consoled the bereaved family.

Students and non-teaching staff of the institution also reached his residence and paid rich tributes.

Soft-spoken Prof Jha was popular among his colleagues and students of the department.
