Dhanbad, Nov 12: The students of the 2022-26 batch of BIT Sindri were inculcated ’life skills in a three-day induction programme of the institution which concluded in Deshpandey Hall on Friday evening.
SAIL Chasnala Executive Director Anup Kumar (BIT Sindri 1984 batch student) was the chief guest on the last day of the induction programme wherein he suggested the students to focus on research from the very first day of the institution.
Anup Kumar, who began his professional life at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Barodara Steel, Usha Martin and has been associated with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) for the last 31 years (since 1991), suggested the students to concentrate on leadership quality and developing practical knowledge which counts importance in an industrial area.
BIT Director DK Singh while addressing the new batch said that the students who select engineering are different in comparison to the students of other sectors. “At BIT Sindri, students learn nature parallel to science education and mould themselves according to nature and do research for human welfare,” he said.
Dr Singh, who worked to make BIT Sindri the second top engineering college in the country early this year in a survey by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), said that for achievement in life, students should concentrate on four factors – achieving wisdom, achievement of physical, achievement of spiritual and achievement of emotional strength. The director also suggested the students should cherish apprehension and aspiration.
BIT Sindri Career Development Centre (CDC) chairman Dr Ghanshyam while addressing the new batch of students informed them about the institution and the courses they will have to combat in achieving their goals.
“We focus on developing the life skills of students and over adopting the logistic approach in life. Besides hard skills, we also focus on developing students’ career skills, leadership qualities and knack for combating and solving problems in critical situations,” said Dr Ghyanshyam.
Induction programme chairman Dr RK Verma, Dr Pankaj Roy, Dr Maya Rama Narayan Rat, Krishna Murari, examination department head Dr Shashi Ranjan Minz, and chemical engineering department student Sinchita Ghosh also shed light on the importance of training and placement in BIT Sindri.
