Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) erupted in celebration as early trends and results of the Maharashtra municipal body elections showed a sweeping lead for the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, which surged ahead in 25 out of 29 municipal corporations, including the high-profile Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Mahayuti Dominance Across Civic Bodies

According to incoming trends, the BJP–Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) alliance crossed the majority mark in the BMC, dealing a major blow to the Thackeray camp’s decades-long dominance. The results indicated strong public backing for the Mahayuti government’s development and governance agenda.

Fadnavis Hails Mandate, Celebrations at BJP HQ

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated state BJP president Ravindra Chavan and Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam via video call, saying there was no longer any reason for concern as people had delivered a decisive verdict for development and good governance. Later in the evening, Fadnavis reached the BJP headquarters in Mumbai and addressed party workers, stating that the results clearly showed voters cared only about development.

PM Modi Expresses Gratitude to Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X to thank the people of Maharashtra. He wrote that the hardworking citizens of the state had blessed the NDA’s pro-people governance agenda and that the municipal election results reflected a strengthening bond between Maharashtra and the NDA. The Prime Minister also praised the relentless efforts of NDA workers across the state.

Amit Shah Credits Development-Focused Governance

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also welcomed the results, saying the massive victory of the BJP–Shiv Sena alliance demonstrated nationwide trust in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and the NDA’s development-oriented policies. He termed the outcome a public endorsement of the Mahayuti government’s work in Maharashtra and thanked voters for their overwhelming support.
