Ramgarh, Feb 18: The Hazaribagh administration on Friday stopped BJP State President Deepak Prakash in Charhi from entering the district on Friday morning.
In protest against the decision of the administration, he along with Hazaribagh MP Jayant Sinha, MLA Manish Jaiswal and other senior workers sat on dharna.
Deepak Prakash was going to Barhi in Hazaribagh. He was going to express condolences to the family of Rupesh Pandey who recently died in the dispute during idol immersion.
Police and administration officials did not allow Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash to travel, citing the issue of law and order. Angered by the action of the administration, Deepak Prakash sat down on the roadside in protest.
The Hazaribagh administration stopped the convoy of the BJP state president at Charhi, 23 km from Barhi. A huge police force was deployed on the spot.
During this, some party workers traveling with Deepak Prakash raised slogans against the state government. There was also a mild scuffle with the police officials for allowing Deepak Prakash to travel.
The MP said that he will oppose this action of the government in a non-violent manner.
Talking to the media, Deepak Prakash said, “On one hand three ministers of the government have been allowed to go to Barhi, while I am stopped midway. This shows how scared the state government is. This action of the government will be called a murder of democracy.”
He said that he was going to pay tribute to Rupesh Pandey.
“The state government does not believe in democracy. It is scared of the BJP. I demand that I be told in writing why I have been stopped from traveling. I am a public representative. I am the state president of a national party. In such a situation, I will not accept such coercive action,” Deepak Prakash added.
