Ranchi, Oct 12: Loknayak (mass leader) Jayaprakash Narayan (JP) on his birth anniversary today was remembered for his concept of ‘nation first’.
Rajya Sabha member and BJP state president Deepak Prakash made party workers aware of Prakash’s concept while addressing a function organized on the birth anniversary of JP and Nana Ji Deshmukh at party state headquarters in Harmu.
“JP always gave importance to the principle of Nation First. When the country was a slave, he dreamt of getting freedom for the country through a strong movement. He tried to bring awareness through his articles in various journals. He later played an important role in the freedom struggle under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi,” Prakash said.
Earlier, Prakash talked about the contribution of JP for the nation building.
“JP was the only person who had fought for freedom as well as for the second freedom struggle. Life value of JP still has relevance in the country,” he said.
Talking about Jharkhand connection of JP, Prakash on the occasion said: “JP also had a close relationship with Jharkhand. He also lived in Hazaribagh Jail in 1942.”
Prakash said: “JP was also associated with the Bhoodan movement and it was under his leadership that the maximum land was donated in Jharkhand. JP made the Chambal dacoits surrender and did an important job of bringing them into the mainstream.”
Prakash on the occasion missed no opportunity to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying today the latter is fulfilling the dream of JP.
“Today the fight against corruption is being fought under the leadership of Modi. The corrupt are being put in jail today. JP’s dream was to change the educational structure. Today, the Modi government is fulfilling it by changing the education policy,” Prakash said.
While addressing the programme, BJP State Organization General Secretary Karmaveer Singh said that when Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru had gone to jail, JP had taken the responsibility of the freedom struggle on his shoulder.
Singh said that when JP opposed giving revenue to the British, he was caught by the British and sent to jail and he remained in jail for nine months. When he came out of jail, the estrangement between Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose was ended.
Singh exhorted that today there is a need that every section of the society should read the biography of JP and imbibe his principles in their lives.
Ranchi MLA CP Singh and veteran BJP leader Suryamani Singh also addressed the program.
Those present at the occasion included party state general secretary cum Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu, General Secretary Dr Pradeep Verma, General Secretary Balmukund Sahai, State Vice President Gangotri Kujur, Suryamani Singh and others.
