Jamshedpur, Oct 12: The Ranchi Met Centre of India Meteorological Department ( IMD ) issued a forecast of light to moderate thundershowers activity over Jharkhand today.
Today’s wind chart analysis and satellite pictures suggested that a western disturbance as a trough in mid and upper-tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level now runs roughly along 70°E to the north of 25°N.
Another trough runs from cyclonic circulation over Kerala and neighbourhood to southwest Madhya Pradesh across interior Karnataka, Marathwada and Vidarbha extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
The twin systems resulted in heavy rain and thundershowers accompanied by lightning at several places across the state including Jamshedpur and other parts of the Kolhan region.
Jamshedpur recorded over 50 mm of rain last night. The rain was accompanied by lightning and thunder.
Today, too there are possibilities of thundershowers activity across several districts.
The Ranchi Met Centre also predicted a fall in maximum temperature by two to three degree Celsius in the next two days.
Statistics reveal that in October so far Jharkhand has received actual rainfall of around 55 mm against a normal of 42 mm resulting in a surplus of 33 per cent.
