Dhanbad June 30: Rs 75 lakh bounced cheque has landed the son of Cong’s state general secretary in soup.
Industrialist Kedar Mittal has filed an FIR in Bank More police station against Navin Verma, son of Cong state general secretary Ravindra Verma for cheating of Rs 75 lakh in the name of real estate business.
Bank More police station officer-in-charge Prabhat Ranjan told media persons that industrialist Kedar Mittal had come and lodged a complaint against Navin Verma.
In his complaint, Kedar Mittal has alleged that Navin Verma issued a cheque to him for returning his money which bounced.
As per a complaint in the police station in 2022, Navin Verma got an investment of Rs 75 lakh from Kedar Mittal in the real estate business. Mittal gave the amount through cheque, cash and bank account.
After getting money Mittal has alleged he took him to Delhi and showed the land where the apartment was to be made. Thereafter, Navin never talked with Mittal about the apartment and business.
Sensing a foul game, Mittal mounted pressure on Navin Verma for returning his money. Finally, Navin issued a cheque.
Ravindra Verma is a senior leader of the coal belt. He was Cong Dhanbad district working president before being appointed state general secretary this year.
A senior Cong leader of the district said that the cheating case against Navin Verma, who lives in Delhi and claims close association with Rahul Gandhi, is not new. Ten years ago during UPA –II government, he had promised Shivratan Dokania to make him a member of the Backward Commission.
Navin also arranged a letter from the Union government about Backward Commission member for Dokania who started using beacon light equipped vehicle in public.
Someone complained to the then Dhanbad deputy commissioner(DC) who probed the matter in which the forgery of Navin Verma surfaced.
