Agartala, Aug 19: A Border Security Force (BSF) agent lost his life while performing his duties following a militant attack on Friday along the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura. The National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) insurgents opened fire on a BSF squad, injuring the soldier, identified as HC Girjesh Kr Uddey, with bullets.
Girjesh served with the BSF’s 145th battalion in the North Tripura district’s Kanchanbari subdivision.

Four rounds struck the BSF jawan during the insurgent ambush, reports claim. Girjesh was flown to Agartala where he was later pronounced dead.
When the firing from the other side of the border began this morning, a BSF team was conducting an area domination operation at the border outpost area in the Kanchanpur subdivision, according to reports.
The insurgents escaped when BSF soldiers reacted.
