New Delhi, April 28: Mayawati, the BSP supremo, dismissed Akhilesh Yadav’s comments regarding her chances of becoming President of the country on Thursday, saying she has never aspired to be President and that the SP leader was dreaming about it to clear his road to being the chief minister.

Mayawati’s comments come a day after Yadav said something similar in Mainpuri  that the “BSP has transferred its votes to the BJP in the Uttar Pradesh polls. Now it will be interesting to see whether the BJP makes Mayawati President or not) in return”.

“I had never dreamt of becoming the president of the country. All I know that the work I am doing of making the downtrodden stand on their feet can be achieved by becoming CM and PM but not president and so the Samajwadi Party should forget it,” Mayawati told reporters.

I can dream of becoming Uttar Pradesh CM again or the PM but not the President of the country. Samajwadi Party (SP) is responsible for BJP's win in UP. SP is dreaming of making me the country's president so that their path to the UP CM post is clear: BSP chief Mayawati pic.twitter.com/eAvCPOLNJp

“The monuments made during our tenure were neglected by both the SP and the BJP governments, and to draw the attention of the state government to this, a delegation of the BSP led by SC Mishra went to meet Yogi ji,” she added.

While Akhilesh Yadav has accused the BSP of transferring votes to the BJP during the recently concluded assembly elections, she has retaliated by accusing the SP of colluding with the BJP to give the UP elections a Hindu-Muslim tinge, and that the Samajwadi Party and its chief bear responsibility for the BJP’s return to power.
