It can’t be said at this moment whether the CBI in the future would pursue this. The Patna branch of the CBI investigating this case had communicated to Devanand Oraon on April 11. The letter signed by the investigating officer of the case Gautam Kumar Anshu requested Devanand Oraon to give his consent for lie detection, brain mapping, and narco-analysis test.Ranchi, April 29: The CBI investigating the suspected murder of the lady officer of Jharkhand Police, Rupa Tirkey is understood to have postponed its decision to conduct lie detection, brain mapping, and narco-analysis test upon her father Devanand Oraon.

“You are informed that during the course of investigation of this case some scientific tests are required upon you namely lie detection, brain mapping, and narco-analysis test. For this, your consent is required. If you give the consent then on the given date and place you will have to appear before the expert. You are kindly requested to give your voluntary consent in the interest of the investigation,” the CBI letter reads.

Devanand Oraon was yet to respond to the CBI’s proposal when the agency changed its mind. Officially so far, no reason has been attributed. The CBI actually wanted to analyse some facts related to the telephonic conversation of Devanand Oraon with Shiv Kumar Kanaujia.

26 years old Rupa Tirkey was posted at the Mahila police station in Sahibganj district. She was found hanging at her official quarter on the morning of May 3 last year. The police initially concluded it was a case of suicide. Later on, the police arrested her colleague Shiv Kumar Kanaujia for abetment of suicide. But Devanand Oraon, a CISF employee blamed his daughter was murdered by some influential persons and moved a petition for a CBI probe at Jharkhand High Court. The single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi ordered the CBI probe while hearing the writ petition 139/2021.

During the investigation of this case by Sahebganj police, some audio clips of a conversation of Devanand Oraon with Shiv Kumar Kanaujia became public.

Devanand Oraon in the audio is heard asking Shiv Kumar Kanaujia to stay away from his daughter. Rupa Tirkey and Shiv Kumar Kanaujia wanted to marry each other. The CBI wants to know about the facts of the matter of these things hence it wants certain tests upon Devanand Oraon. The family of Rupa Tirkey was opposed to their relationship. But at the same time, they are not ready to believe and accept that Rupa Tirkey committed suicide due to such reasons. Her mother Padmavati Orain in her complaint alleged that she was raped and murdered.
