Dhanbad: In a major action on Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) regional office in Mugma, Dhanbad. During the operation, a PF clerk named Arvind Kumar was caught red-handed accepting a bribe.

According to officials, Arvind Kumar had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 from retiring electrician Umesh Kumar Singh in exchange for expediting his Provident Fund (PF) settlement. Following a formal complaint, the CBI set up a trap and arrested the clerk while taking the bribe.

Further Interrogation Underway

Post-arrest, Kumar was taken to the ECL guest house, where he is being interrogated. Sources say the CBI has also detained some of his colleagues for questioning.

Initial investigation suggests that a fixed bribe amount was allegedly being charged for PF settlements over the years. The CBI is now probing whether a larger corruption racket involving multiple employees is at play.
