New Delhi, Feb 18: Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi and a leader of the AAP, tweeted on Saturday that the CBI had called him to their headquarters on Sunday. The alleged corruption in the creation and application of the excise policy for the national capital is the reason for this.

“CBI has called me again tomorrow. They have used the full power of ED and CBI against me. The officials had raided my house, searched my bank locker but nothing was found against me. I have made arrangements for good education for the children of Delhi. They want to stop me. I have always cooperated with the investigation and will continue to do so,” Sisodia said in a tweet.

In August of last year, the CBI filed a FIR in a special court against Sisodia and 14 other people under a number of Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 477A (falsification of records), as well as section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, which deals with using unfair advantage to influence a public servant through dishonest or illegal means or by the exercise of personal influence.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, the lieutenant governor, suggested that the CBI conduct an investigation into alleged irregularities in the creation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy, which was released in November of last year.

A portion of the alleged Rs 100 crore in kickbacks generated by the revoked Delhi excise policy, according to the Enforcement Directorate, which is conducting a parallel investigation into the case’s financial irregularities, was allegedly used by the AAP to support its campaign in the 2022 Goa assembly election. In the second chargesheet for the case in which Manish Sisodia is charged, the ED made the allegations.

Sisodia and other officers from the excise department have been charged in the Delhi spirits scam in the FIRs filed by the investigating authorities. The Delhi Excise Policy, 2021–2022, which was designed by the senior AAP leaders to continuously generate and channel unlawful revenues to themselves, according to the ED’s additional chargesheet, was created with the intention of doing so.
