New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic development, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks between India and Pakistan were successfully concluded on Monday evening, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to uphold the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC).

Defensive Tone from Pakistan

According to sources familiar with the dialogue, the tone of the Pakistani delegation appeared defensive, signaling Islamabad’s intention to de-escalate tensions following the recent hostilities triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent Operation Sindoor. The Pakistani side reportedly assured India that it would not violate the ceasefire going forward.

Discussion Rescheduled

Originally scheduled for 12 noon, the bilateral military dialogue was delayed and held later in the evening due to unspecified reasons. Nonetheless, the interaction was described by both sides as “peaceful and constructive.”

Ceasefire Context

The meeting comes two days after India and Pakistan reached a mutual understanding to halt cross-border military actions, including air and artillery strikes, which had intensified after India targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in response to the April 22 attack that killed 26 civilians.

Future Course

While the immediate outcome appears positive, defence analysts caution that the sustainability of this ceasefire will depend on Pakistan’s actions in the days to come — particularly in terms of curbing terrorist activity along its side of the border.
