Central University of Jharkhand confers 28 Gold Medals, 27 PhD Degrees at 2nd convocation

University also announced two new Special Research Centers

Ranchi, May 6: The Central University of Jharkhand in Ranchi conducted its second convocation in the auditorium of the Academic complex on its premises. The Union Minister of State, Ministry of Education, Government of India, Annapurna Devi was present on the occasion as chief guest.

During the convocation, a total of 704 students were awarded the degree. Twenty-eight UG/PG students were awarded the gold medals. The doctoral degree was awarded to 27 PhD scholars of the university.

Pratisha Mishra, student of M.Sc. Mathematics received the Chancellor’s Medal on the occasion.

While delivering the convocation address, Annapurna Devi lauded the Central University of Jharkhand for contributing to the task of knowledge creation in a very short period and congratulated the present Vice Chancellor for becoming the first institution in Jharkhand to implement New Education Policy 2020.

She further advised the students to enrich themselves with the morals and values of the Indian Knowledge System and to strive to contribute more to the creation of new indigenous knowledge and its promotion.

Annapurna Devi gave a powerful message to the university management to continue its commendable work for the empowerment of the tribal population of the state. The Chief Guest also congratulated the University for having a good enrolment ratio of girls in the University and advised the students to practice the motto of CUJ, i.e., ‘Knowledge to Wisdom’ at every stage of life as they represent the university tradition.

During the convocation, it was announced that the university would get a new chair in the name of Bhima Bhoi, famous poet, saint and philosopher of the MAHIMA sect, hailing from Odisha. He worked for the removal of caste hierarchy in Hinduism.

Along with this, two special research centres are also to be initiated at CUJ, namely, Centre for Environment, Society and Governance and Birsa Munda Centre of Indigenous Knowledge and Sustainable Development.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Kshiti Bhusan Das delivered the welcome address and presented the ‘Report of the University’. He spoke about the achievements of the University and future course of action for the improvement of the academic ecosystem.

Taking an important step towards the fulfilment of the dream of digital India, the NAD-Digilocker was also launched by the Union MoS Devi for the varsity students.
