New Delhi, May 2: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will preside over a three-day Health Summit from May 5-7, at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat’s Kevadia.
There will be a detailed discussion on India’s fight against COVID and the Centre’s initiative — Heal by India and Heal in India — which has been a major focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government during the three-day meeting, which will be attended by the Health Ministers of all states and Union Territories.
According to sources familiar with the situation, an overall investigation has been conducted to see how certain states were able to keep Covid levels under control while also increasing immunisation efforts.
“The whole purpose (of the meeting) is to share these best practices with other states, which will be the topmost priority,” sources said.
According to sources, each state and UT will give a three-minute presentation on their experiences coping with the pandemic, followed by a brief address by the various Health Ministers. Another major goal will be to persuade states to invest more in national health infrastructure, as the budgets allotted to states and UTs are frequently underutilised.
The three-day summit’s agenda will include an emphasis on attracting investment in health facilities, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent launch of the ‘Heal by India’ campaign.
PM Modi spoke on the great potential for traditional medicines and wellness goods at the Ayush investment Summit on April 20 in Gujarat, at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Dr Tedros, the Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), and Pravind Jugnauth, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, were also present at the Summit.
In order to promote “Ayush,” the Centre has announced that a separate category of visas will be issued for people who wish to travel to India for medical reasons and wish to use AAYUSH facilities.
The choice of venue for the summit is particularly intriguing because Gujarat is set to hold Assembly elections in the coming months, and Mansukh Mandaviya is a Gujarati.
