Ranchi/Chaibasa: In a major success against Left-Wing Extremism, Chaibasa Police has arrested two senior CPI (Maoist) operatives, including the dreaded Chhattisgarh-based naxal Hidima. The arrests were confirmed by Chaibasa SP Rakesh Ranjan during a press conference on Sunday.

Naxal Leaders with Long Criminal Records

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep alias Hidima Padeyam, a sub-zonal committee member from Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, and Shiva Bodra, an area committee member from Saraikela district. Authorities revealed that Hidima is wanted in 35 cases, while Shiva faces charges in nine cases.

Special Operation in Saranda Forest

On August 30, police received intelligence that top Maoist leaders and their cadres were planning a major attack in the Saranda region of Jaraikela. Acting swiftly, a joint team comprising Chaibasa Police and CRPF’s CoBRA 209 battalion, led by ASP (Operations) Paras Rana, launched a special operation. On Sunday, the forces successfully apprehended both naxals from the dense forests and hilly areas of Saranda.

Weapons and Explosives Recovered

From their possession, police seized arms, cartridges, magazines, a walkie-talkie, detonators, and materials used for making IEDs. Officials stated that the duo was actively involved in planting IEDs to target security forces and recruiting new members for the organization.

Shocking Revelations of Exploitation

During interrogation, the arrested naxals disclosed disturbing details, alleging that central committee member Anal alias Ramesh has been sexually exploiting female cadre members and forcing illegal abortions. These revelations shed light on the internal atrocities within the Maoist organization.

Maoist Presence in Kolhan and Saranda

Police noted that several top Maoist leaders, including Misir Besra, Anmol, Mochu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Ajay Mahato, Sagen Angaria, and Ashwin, remain active with their squads in the Kolhan and Saranda regions. Security forces continue to intensify operations to curb Maoist activities in the area.
