Dhanbad, Dec 18 : Four labourers were reportedly injured in DVC Thermal Power Plant chaos triggered by sudden starting of Primary Air Fans (PA Fans) in the boiler at around 7.30 pm of Friday night.
An official of the plant said that 14 labourers were repairing a leakage in the boiler when all of sudden PA Fans started running. Having seen the danger to their lives, the labourers began to flee. In this chaos, four of them identified as Ganesh Rawat, Rajendra Nayak, Rama Prasad and Yogendra Yadav received mild injuries.
PA Fans are high-pressure fans used in the boiler of a power plant to supply fresh air in the combustion chamber.
Leader of DVC Thermal Power Plant recognized union Ganesh Ram reached the spot and sent injured labourers to hospital for treatment. The injured labourers were duly released after giving first aid.
On receiving the information, DVC Thermal Power Plant project head Sushant Sanigrahi along with deputy general manager Arun Kumar and additional director Neeraj Sinha reached the spot and assured the employees’ body leaders to conduct a probe on how the incident took place. “Action will be taken if carelessness of any officer or staff surfaces in the probe,” said the project head.
Notably, the DVC Bokaro Thermal Power plant generates 500 MW per day. The power generation was unaffected even after the incident.
