Chatra, May 21: A new stadium is going to be constructed on the vacant land between the women’s college and training building in Chatra town soon. The stadium will be constructed on 6 acres of land. Chatra DC Abu Imran has taken this initiative directing the concerned department to make the DPR ready. Imran’s initiative has resulted in the issuance of a no-objection certificate from the Chatra municipal council.
Sources said the estimate is being prepared by the Rural Development Special Division. At present there is Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the district headquarters for sports. Even Independence Day and Republic Day parades to other government programs are organised here.
Imran not only planned for a new stadium but has also given his nod for the renovation of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Officials said that once renovated, this can be used for football and other sports activities.
An official said the town needed one more stadium other than Jawaharlal Nehru stadium and so a proposal has been prepared on the instructions of the deputy commissioner.

After the older stadium is renovated and the new one constructed, we will have two centres to organise sports activities, he said.
