Chess Olympiad: Two seats reserved in the state team for government school students

Dhanbad, June 13: For the first time All India Chess Federation (AICF) has reserved two seats for students (one boy and one girl) of government school in the state team.

All Jharkhand Chess Association general secretary International Master (IM) Neeraj Mishra said that six students (boys and girls) from Jharkhand will be selected to watch their game during 44th Chess Olympiad to be held at Mahbaliapuram ( Chennai) from July 28 to August 10.

The students will get opportunity to meet great chess players from around the globe and watch their game during Chess Olympiad.

The selection of state squad (3 boys and girls) would be made on basis of Inter- School Chess Championship to be held at Shane International School Kandra , Saraikela district from June 17 to 18 under Saraikela District Chess Association.

“Student below 15 years who were born on January 1, 2007 or thereafter could participate in the championship”, said Neeraj Mishra. Total 50 trophies would be distributed to students of the competition.

AJCA general secretary said that AICF has organised this inter-school competition under the celebration programme of Chess Olympiad which being organised for the first time in India.

AICF would arrange their tour to Chennai and facilitate their stay and other requirement to watch Chess Olympiad. “There is no entry fee for championship but participant must be registered with All India Chess Federation,” said Mishra.

Saraikela District Chess Association secretary cum organizing secretary Ajay Kumar said that interested school students can register their entry online on AJCA website. Last date of entry is June 15.

He added that participants would be provided free of cost lodging and boarding but each school would have to send a manager. For organizing the championship, an organizing committee has been made under chairmanship of Shane International School, Kandra Keya Adak.
