Ranchi, Nov.11: The district administration’s idea of covid vaccination at Chhath Ghats on both days of Chhath remained a big hit.
It was realized that after the district administration got information from vaccination centres at Chhath Ghats regarding people, many people turned up for vaccination with great enthusiasm.
‘Though I will not be in a position to give an exact figure right now as the data is being collected, the number of people vaccinated at Chhath Ghat must be around 150 to 200. The response was good,” sub-divisional magistrate Deepak Kumar Dubey said.
The district administration had established eight vaccination centres at Ghats in the city and people with Aadhar Card were made eligible for vaccination. Apart from this, vaccination centres at identified Chhath Ghat at Tamar, Kanke, Bero and other blocks of the district were also established.
Amid vaccination, Chhath was celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety in the Jharkhand capital. People offered Arghya to the setting and the rising sun on November 10 and November 11 respectively.
Apart from permanent ponds, dams, rivers and other bodies, people had constructed many temporary ponds close to their residences. Some of the devotees had makeshift tanks at their rooftop and house campus for offering prayers.
The NDRF had deputed its team at prominent Chhath Ghats to prevent any case of drowning. The district administration had restricted the entry of heavy vehicles in the city to prevent cases of accidents. Police teams in the city were noticed active in patrolling to prevent any case of theft, eve-teasing, snatching and other law and order problems.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation had cleaned all river bodies and also made arrangements to provide water to ponds. The power supply remained normal and no report of any problem taking power cuts came from any part of the city.
A matter of concern remained the detection of 15 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday. The figure took the figure of corona positive people in the city to 103 from 99 on Tuesday. Out of 15 cases, one was from Hostel No.2 of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Following detection of new cases, the RIMS management has made the rule of ‘no mask no entry’ stringent.
