New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday vowed to eradicate Naxalism from India by March 2026, following an IED blast in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division that claimed the lives of eight security personnel and a driver. The attack occurred around 2:30 PM on the Kutru-Bedre route in Bijapur district.

Amit Shah’s Assurance

Expressing his condolences on X, Shah said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of DRG soldiers in an IED blast in Bijapur. The sacrifice of our soldiers will not go in vain. We will end Naxalism from the land of India by March 2026.”

Chhattisgarh CM Condemns Attack

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai condemned the attack, attributing it to the Naxalites’ frustration with the government’s intensified anti-Naxal campaign.

“The sacrifice of the soldiers will not go in vain. The fight to end Naxalism will continue strongly,” he stated on X.

The CM also observed a minute’s silence at an event in Mahasamund to pay tribute to the deceased.

Details of the Attack

The incident occurred as the jawans were traveling in a Scorpio vehicle toward Dantewada district when the IED was detonated.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao described the attack as a “cowardly act” driven by desperation. “This sacrifice of the jawans won’t go in vain,” Sao said.

Impact of the Attack

The Naxalites’ act has drawn nationwide attention, with both state and central leaders reiterating their commitment to eliminating the menace.
