Ranchi: Jharkhand Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari has issued a clarification regarding his recent remarks about fake BLOs and cyber fraud activities in Jamtara. He stated that his comments were specifically directed at fraudsters impersonating Booth Level Officers to extort money from villagers by threatening to remove their names from the voter list.
Clarification On Comments And Respect For Genuine BLOs
Dr Ansari emphasised that genuine BLOs are a crucial part of the election system and respected officials of the Election Commission. His statements, he said, did not target actual BLOs in any way. He alleged that political opponents were twisting his remarks for political gain and deliberately spreading misinformation.
He reiterated that villagers had complained about fake BLOs visiting homes and demanding money, prompting him to raise concerns about fraud attempts linked to the electoral process.
Focus On Cybercrime And Action In Jamtara
The minister noted that Jamtara has long been affected by cybercrime, and the recent complaints highlight persistent vulnerabilities. He said he had informed the Deputy Commissioner of the region and requested heightened surveillance.
Dr Ansari added that his warnings were necessary to curb cyber fraud and protect the transparency of the election process. He affirmed that he would continue pushing for enhanced monitoring and strict action against those misusing the BLO identity for criminal activities.
