Ranchi, Jan 24: Chief Minister Hemant Soren laid the foundation stone of 14 rice mills in ten districts of the state including Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, West Singhbhum, Khunti, Gumla, Simdega, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Godda during foundation stone laying program at Project Bhawan today.
During the program, the CM said that these 14 mills will not suffice the needs of the state as there is a need for more mills. There should be 100 mills but at present 80 mills are there in the state.
“The state government is working on such a large scale for the first time and the farmers of the state should be happy as the government is working according to the feelings of the farmers,” the CM said.
“The government is serious towards the farmers and it is trying to make the farmers prosperous because 70 per cent of the state’s population lives in villages,” the CM added.
Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon, who was present in the program, said that there is a dire need for rice mills in Jharkhand. The opening of the rice mill will benefit both the private sector and the government.
“There was a proposal to open 20 rice mills, but in the first phase, the foundation stone of 14 mills has been laid and the rest six rice mills will open soon. Even if the flour mills open, it will also be beneficial as employment opportunities will increase. With the opening of the rice mills, farmers of Jharkhand will be able to sell more paddy than before which will help in getting more employment to the youth,” Oraon said.
