Ranchi, Aug.17: The Jharkhand State Congress Committee (JPCC) has decided to celebrate 50 years of the Bangladesh Liberation War tomorrow.

The party spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey informed this saying a seminar will be organised on the occasion at Ramgarh. In the seminar, he said, discussion on the contribution of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the war of liberation will be discussed in detail.

“The seminar will be inaugurated by the national convenor of Bangladesh Liberation War Commemoration Celebration Committee Captain Praveen Davar while JPCC president and state finance minister Rameshwar Oraon will remain present as chief guest in the programme,” Dubey said

Dubey said retired army personnel will be felicitated on the occasion.

The leadership of Indira Gandhi changed the geopolitics of the subcontinent forever. In order to make youths of present days aware of this, Dubey said, Congress party national president Sonia Gandhi has constituted an 11-member committee under the chairmanship of former union minister A.K.Antony and the committee will organise programmes across the country.

In one of the fastest and shortest campaigns of military history, a new nation was born as a result of the swift campaign undertaken by the Indian Army. After facing defeat in the 1971 war, the then Army Chief of Pakistan General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, along with his 93,000 troops, surrendered to allied forces, which also comprised Indian Army personnel.
