Constable ‘uncle’ allegedly rapes minor in Hazaribagh, flees

Ramgarh, May 11: A minor girl, resident of the Mufassil police station area of Hazaribagh was allegedly raped by a police constable Arvind Mehta, who is posted in Ramgarh.

The victim is a student of class 7 and calls the accused ‘uncle’ as he is a neighbour.

According to the information, the victim was alone in the house when the accused found a chance to execute the incident. The minor’s mother, who reached the spot, raised an alarm after seeing the constable inside her house. The villagers caught and thrashed the accused.

However, one of his associate policemen somehow pulled him out of the crowd and both fled on a motorcycle.

Muffasil police station in-charge Bajrang Mahto said, “According to preliminary information, the girl was changing clothes after taking a bath in her house in the afternoon. Seeing the opportunity, the accused constable entered her house and allegedly raped her. After the incident, the girl was lying unconscious in a nude state.”

Police have started an investigation into the matter. Hazaribagh Police is conducting raids to arrest the accused. Meanwhile, the victim has been sent for medical examination.

An FIR has been registered against the accused Arvind Kumar Mehta under POCSO in Mufassil police station Hazaribagh. At the same time, the villagers have also identified the policeman who ran away from the spot. The youth who took away the constable has been identified as Suresh Kumar Mehta. He is also named as an accused in the FIR.
