Ranchi: Ahead of Durga Puja, the Jharkhand High Court has issued strict directions to the state government and district administrations to ensure safety, cleanliness, and law and order at all puja pandals. Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar emphasized that all pre-issued instructions must be followed without compromise.

Statewide Implementation

The court made it clear that these directives will apply across all districts of Jharkhand. Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police have been instructed to strictly enforce rules related to safety and sanitation at puja venues. The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for October 7.

Specific Safety Measures

Taking suo motu cognizance after permission for Durga Puja at the District School ground, the court reviewed the government’s affidavit. It stated that the ground would be restored to its original playable condition after the puja. Authorities will deploy 20 fire extinguishers for fire safety, 50 private security guards and 100 volunteers for crowd management, with separate entry and exit routes for men and women, along with an emergency exit.

Noise and Cleanliness Regulations

The High Court also reinforced that loudspeakers cannot be used during school hours or after 10 pm. District administration has directed puja committees to strictly adhere to noise pollution and cleanliness rules. The court specifically instructed compliance with the guidelines issued by Ranchi administration on September 8.
