Dhanbad, Aug. 17: For protection from the possible third wave of the Covid-19 virus, the Dhanbad district would conduct a Corona test of all school students from tomorrow.

Dhanbad civil surgeon (CS) Dr Shyam Kishore Kant has in this regard written a letter to the district education officer (DEO) requesting him to direct teachers and students of schools to cooperate with the health department team in carrying out the Covid-19 test.

“ There is an urgent need for implementation of Covid-19 protocol and comprehensive test for protection from the possible third wave of Coronavirus. Since children are likely to be affected most in the third wave of the Covid-19 virus,  there is a need for tests of students and teachers,” said the civil surgeon.

Kant said that the health department team would conduct swab testing of those students and teachers who would have signs of cold and cough. “ Testing of school students would kick start from tomorrow ( Wednesday) in the township while medical officer-in-charge of community health centres (CHCs) has been directed to carry out a campaign in block and Panchayat based schools from Monday,” he said.

He said on the directive of the deputy commissioner (DC) the health department is geared up to combat the possible third wave of the Covid -19  virus.

As per guidelines of the state government schools in Jharkhand have been opened from August 1 for students of class 9 to 12.
