RAJ KUMAR
Ranchi, Aug.12: Arvind Kumar, who works as private secretary to State chief minister’s principal secretary Rajiv Arun Ekka, lost his septuagenarian parents as unidentified miscreants killed them by slitting their throats at their residence at Kunda locality, about 165km from the Town Police station of Palamu district.
A locality resident informed this saying the murder came to light in the morning today when a guard deputed at their residence reached on duty and peeped inside the room closed from both sides.
“The guard found the doors of the house closed. Somehow he managed to peep inside. He noticed the bodies of the private secretary’s parents lying in a pool of blood. He was informed about the same and the matter was informed to police, which swung into action,” the resident said.
“Kumar’s father, Rajeshwar Chandravanshi (75), was retired army personnel. He used to stay with his wife Sharmila Devi (70). They were leading a simple life. Last night they went to sleep after having their dinner. This morning their bodies were recovered. God knows who killed them in this way and why,” the resident added, expressing his concern over the incident.
Superintendent of police (SP) of the district Chandan Kumar Sinha confirmed the incident saying police are yet to find clues.
“We have started an investigation. We so far have not found any clue. We are talking to family members. Once we get any clue, we will proceed further,” SP Sinha said confirming the incident.
Police sent the bodies for autopsy. A dog squad has been pressed into service. The effort is on to ensure who committed the murder and what was the motive behind this.
This is the second incident within four days in the district in which someone was killed in his house while sleeping at night. Earlier on August 7, the mother of four children, Dukhni Devi (35), was shot dead at night when she was sleeping in her residence at village Satbarba Chatti, about 175km from the state capital under Satbarba police station area of the district. Police had arrested four persons in connection.
