Jamshedpur, Feb 7: Once again Naxals hiding in the West Singhbhum forests triggered an IED, causing a CRPF jawan to sustain an injury on Tuesday.
The injured identified as Sanjiv Kumar who belongs to the CRPF’s 60 battalions fell victim to the blast while carrying out an anti-insurgency operation at Hathiburu jungle in the Porahat forest division that falls under the Goelkera thana area about 160 km away from here today.
Soon after the incident, the police and the paramilitary forces rescued the victim and rushed him to a hospital in Ranchi by helicopter.
Getting information about the blast, the West Singhbhum superintendent of police, Ashutosh Shekhar rushed to Goelkera.
Goelkera thana OC, Rahul Kumar Singh who had chipped in the rescue operation said the injured CRPF jawan is out of danger.
It is the fifth explosion triggered by the outlawed outfit, CPI-Maoist in the Porahat and adjoining Kolhan forest divisions, which have emerged as the new ‘home’ of the Naxals.
As of now 15 jawans have sustained injuries caused by the IED explosions in that troubled region since January 11, the day when the police started the joint operation against the Naxals there.
Significantly, some of the injured jawans are undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi.
