Mumbai, May 11: Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder and former captain of Chennai Super Kings, is likely to miss the rest of the IPL 2022 season. During the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Jadeja sustained an injury. CSK’s final encounter against Delhi Capitals was without the all-rounder.
Jadeja’s ailment has been checked by CSK’s medical experts, but he has not improved. On Thursday, Chennai will face arch-rivals Mumbai Indians, Jadeja is unlikely to play in that game because CSK have a limited chance of making the playoffs. If RCB or Rajasthan Royals win one more game this season, CSK will be eliminated from the tournament.
With the bat and the ball, Jadeja was having a terrible IPL season. In his first ten matches, the Saurashtra allrounder had only mustered 116 runs and five wickets. The break will allow Jadeja to regain his form ahead of India’s June series against South Africa. India will then travel to England for one Test, three T20Is, and as many ODIs as possible. Jadeja’s performance in the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 would be essential for Team India.
Deepak Chahar of CSK has previously been ruled out of the event. Chahar was Chennai’s most expensive purchase in the IPL 2022 auction. The pacer was hurt in the back.
