New Delhi, July 15: A total of 500 centres in India and 10 abroad on Friday are conducting the first part of the Common University Entrance Test, a common entrance test for undergraduate admissions in all central universities. In the first slot, almost 8 lakh applicants will show up.
Phase 1 of the Common University Entrance Test, or CUET, will take place on July 15, 16, 19, and 20, and Phase 2 will take place in August (4-8 and 10). After the NEET exam on July 17, candidates who selected Physics, Chemistry, or Biology were assigned to Phase 2.
With 14.9 lakh registrations, it is the second-largest admission exam in the nation after NEET. With an average of 18 lakh registrations, NEET-UG is India’s largest entrance examination.
6.80 lakh and 8.1 lakh hopefuls, respectively, will show up for the first and second slots. These applicants submitted 54,555 different combinations of subject applications to 90 universities.
Prior to the exam, several students voiced their concerns about the CUET due to the requirement of completing too many exams quickly, the delay in admit cards, and the lack of a centre choice.
For admissions in the academic year 2022–2023, a total of 44 central universities, 12 state universities, 11 deemed institutions, and 19 private universities have applied to take part in the first edition of CUET–UG.
