Ranchi, Oct 2: The Central University of Jharkhand and its Gandhi Study Centre on Sunday celebrated the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi Jayanti celebrations were initiated by IQAC Director Prof Ratan Kumar Dey.
University teachers Shashi Kumar Mishra, Dr Padhi, Dr Sushil Kumar Shukla, Mukesh Kumar Jaiswal were present on the occasion. After the celebrations, a cleanliness campaign was also conducted in and outside the university premises, wherein teachers and students of the university participated and cleaned the premises.
Two special lectures were also organised by the Center. Professor Aloka Dutta of Delhi University and Dr. Shambhu Joshi of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University were the speakers on the occasion. The speakers talked on ‘Gandhi’s Swaraj’ and ‘Gandhi’s Non-Violence’.
The speakers highlighted the thoughts and principles of Mahatma Gandhi and talked about adopting his vision of goodwill towards all. Speakers said that if we have to take the country and human society towards a secure future, then we have to walk on the path of sustainable development and the path of sustainable development is incomplete without Gandhi’s philosophy.
