Curtain falls on dance workshop ‘Nityotsava’ organised by Tata Steel Foundation

Jamshedpur, June 7: ‘Nityotsava’, a four-day Indian Classical Dance workshop organised by Tata Steel Foundation concluded here today

The workshop was organised at the Rabindra Bhavan in Sakchi. Anniruddha Sen, president, Jamshedpur Music Circle and Subhash Bose, president, Bansi Bose Foundation were present during the closing ceremony.

The dance workshop was organised in association with Kala Udyan, an organisation which is actively working towards training the youth in Indian classical dance forms and music.

The workshop witnessed the participation of over 450 students, a few of which travelled from Kolkata, Ranchi and Patna to participate.

The teachers, who had come from across India to conduct the workshops also enthralled the audience with their dance performances. Shashwati Garai from Kolkata performed and taught Odissi while Vidha Lal from Delhi performed and taught Kathak.

Nilava Sen from Kolkata performed and taught Bharatanatyam, while the duo Piyush & Preeti from Delhi and Gauri Diwakar performed and taught Kathak. Bimbawati Devi from Kolkata performed and taught Manipuri.

For several years, Tata Steel Foundation has been promoting and organising classes and workshops for the community.

To preserve and promote Indian classical dance forms and music, Tata Steel Foundation has been organising several competitions, fests and workshops every year.

Nityotsava is one such initiative, which is providing a platform for the youth of Jamshedpur to learn dance and music from experts across India.
