New Delhi, Sept 20: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued summonses to Twitter and Delhi police over the availability of child pornography videos on the website.

The Delhi Police and Twitter have till September 26 to reply to the summonses.

“The Chandigarh University incident set me thinking and I asked my team to investigate. We found videos of minor girls on Twitter in which they were seen being raped. Some of the platforms were even selling these videos for Rs 20 to Rs 30. This is horrific,” DCW chief Swati Maliwal told reporters.

She claimed to have enquired about the existence of such videos on Twitter and the company’s practises for reviewing such content.

Maliwal has requested that the Delhi Police file a FIR in order to track down individuals responsible for making and disseminating these videos, as well as the accusers and victims.

Notably, on Saturday night, protests erupted on the Chandigarh University campus in Mohali, Punjab, over claims that a hosteller had taped objectionable videos of numerous female students. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann then demanded an investigation.
