Meanwhile, departmental action and transfer of Marhaura Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Yogendra Kumar has been recommended and Masrakh SHO Ritesh Mishra and Constable Vikesh Tiwari were suspended with immediate effect.
The police said on Wednesday that several people went out to a nearby bar till late on Tuesday and then became ill when they got home. According to Sunil Kumar, the state’s minister for prohibition, the incident took place in the Saran neighbourhoods surrounding the Mashrak and Isuapur police stations.
The Nitish Kumar administration outlawed the sale and use of alcohol in Bihar in April 2016. SK Mahaseth, a minister in Bihar, on Wednesday urged the state’s residents to stop drinking alcohol.
“Best if you give up drinking. Poison and not liquor are coming here. If we build strength via sports, we might tolerate it but people will have to build that strength. Give it up! It’s prohibited & being wrongly pushed here,” he said.
