New Delhi, Feb 25: A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight, originated from Cochin, diverted to Bhopal due to a medical emergency on board, the airlines said in a statement on Friday.

“IndiGo flight 6E 2407 operating from Cochin to Delhi has been diverted to Bhopal due to a medical emergency on board. We regret the inconvenience caused to other passengers,” the statement read.

After the plane touched down in Bhopal, the airport staff immediately offboarded the passenger and transported him safely to the closest hospital, according to a statement from Bhopal Airport.

An aircraft from Calicut to Dammam on the Air India Express was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram earlier in the day after its tail touched the ground as it took off. The Thiruvananthapuram airport declared a full emergency, and the flight landed safely, according to officials.

Officials claim that Air India Express flight IX 385, which was travelling from Kozhikode to Dammam, was diverted to Thiruvananthapuram because of what is believed to have been a tail strike on takeoff.

“There were 168 passengers on board, and the aircraft made a normal safe landing at Thiruvananthapuram at 12.15PM and passengers deplaned,” the airline said in a statement.

On February 4, an Air India Express aircraft from Abu Dhabi headed to Calicut had to return to the airport in Abu Dhabi after flames were discovered in one of the engines shortly after takeoff.

Similar to this, on January 23, a technical issue caused an Air India Express flight from Trivandrum to Muscat to return 45 minutes after takeoff. The flight management system (FMS) allegedly experienced a technical issue, according to officials.

A snake was discovered on a December 2022 Air India Express flight with a destination of Dubai. When the Air India Express Boeing B-737 flight from Calicut to Dubai touched down at the airport in Dubai, the crew discovered a snake inside the aircraft.
