New Delhi: Delhi Police has been placed on high alert ahead of Independence Day on August 15, with the Special Cell, Crime Branch, Railway Police, and district police units across the capital all operating in alert mode. As part of the security measures, Delhi Police has put up posters of 19 wanted terrorists in crowded areas of the city.
Who Features on the Posters
The posters carry photographs of terrorists linked to Indian Mujahideen, Al-Qaeda, and Khalistani outfits. Indian Mujahideen operatives Riyaz Bhatkal and Iqbal Bhatkal are featured, along with Al-Qaeda linked individuals including Mohammad Sharjeel Akhtar, Abu Sufyan, Mohammad Umar, and Syed Mohammad Arshiyan. Khalistani terrorists on the posters include Ranjit Singh alias Neeta and Paramjit Singh Pamma of Khalistan Zindabad Force, Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla of Khalistan Tiger Force, and Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Wadhawa Singh Babbar, and Gurmeet Singh Bagga of Babbar Khalsa International.
Public Urged to Help
Police have appealed to citizens to immediately inform them if they spot any individual featured in the posters, with Delhi Police Control Room number 112 printed on them. Informants will be rewarded and their identities kept confidential.
