New Delhi: Severe air pollution levels in the national capital have triggered GRAP-IV restrictions, prompting Delhi schools to modify their schedules for December 15. Classes up to Grade 5 and Grades 6 to 11 will operate in hybrid mode, while Classes 10 and 12 will continue as usual.
Hybrid Classes Implemented Under GRAP-IV
According to the Directorate of Education, schools have been instructed to minimise physical attendance and deliver lessons through both online and offline modes. Although the government may suspend physical classes for Grades 6 to 9 and Grade 11 based on local conditions, no blanket shutdown has been ordered. Classes 10 and 12 remain exempt from the hybrid system.
Air Quality Drops to ‘Severe Plus’, Triggering Emergency Measures
Delhi’s Air Quality Index touched 491 on Sunday morning, the worst level recorded this year. Thick smog disrupted movement across Delhi-NCR, prompting authorities to enforce GRAP-IV measures. These include bans on truck entry—except essentials—restrictions on commercial vehicles, and 50% attendance for all government and private offices, with the rest working from home.
