New Delhi: In a troubling incident, six schools in Delhi received bomb threats early Friday, triggering panic and emergency measures. The authorities evacuated students and shifted to online classes for the day. This comes days after similar hoax threats disrupted academic activities in several schools on December 9.

Schools on High Alert as Threats Disrupt Normalcy

The first alert was reported to Delhi Fire Services at 4:21 am, followed by additional warnings throughout the morning. Police, bomb detection squads, and dog teams were immediately deployed to conduct thorough searches at the affected schools.

Concerned parents rushed to collect their children, with schools ensuring prompt evacuations and online learning arrangements. “We acted immediately upon receiving the threat, dispersing students and notifying parents,” said Rajiv Solanki, chairman of Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini. Online classes were implemented from 11 am.

Details of the Threat and Targeted Institutions

The schools targeted include Bhatnagar International School (Paschim Vihar), Cambridge School (Srinivaspuri), DPS Amar Colony (East of Kailash), South Delhi Public School (Defence Colony), Delhi Police Public School (Safdarjung), and Venkateshwar Global School (Rohini).

The emails, sent around midnight, referenced routine school activities like parent-teacher meetings and sports events but ominously warned of bomb blasts on Friday and Saturday.

Swift Action from Authorities

Madhavi Goswami, principal of Cambridge School, discovered the email during a routine check and immediately contacted the police. “Parents were informed, and online classes were organized to ensure safety,” she stated.

Karmveer, a guard at South Delhi Public School, described the quick response: “Parents bringing their children were turned away, and those already inside were safely sent home.”

Recurring Threats Raise Concerns

This incident follows a similar wave of threats earlier this month, which turned out to be hoaxes. Despite this, the recurring nature of these warnings has caused significant disruption and anxiety among parents, students, and school authorities.

Police investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and ensure the safety of educational institutions in Delhi.
