Fatehpur, July 5: Uttar Pradesh Police conducted a second demolition drive at the home of Sonu alias Sikandar, who is accused of raping and killing a 19-year-old girl in the Fatehpur district, officials said.
Officials stated that an ongoing investigation is taking place after the demolition drive on Tuesday.
The victim was allegedly raped and killed on June 22; two days later, she passed away in the hospital, according to the police, who also stated that Sonu had been arrested and sent to jail.
On June 22, the accused, Sonu alias Sikandar, a resident of Jwalaganj, arrived and abducted a teenager who was travelling to a wedding in the Bindki Kotwali region from a village in the Radhanagar area. After reportedly sexually assaulting her nearby at a house that was still being built, he is charged with crushing her with a brick.
Authorities conducted a demolition drive at Sonu’s home in the Fatehpur district earlier on June 27. A huge number of police officers, including the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), were present at the scene during the destruction.
In the meantime, the police reported that on June 23, a nurse employed by a private medical college in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly gang-raped by some hospital workers.
Two people have been detained in connection with the case, they added.
After the victim complained about the incident at the office of Meerut’s Senior Superintendent of Police, the case was opened.
The nurse said that the suspects repeatedly sexually assaulted her and made videos of her. The nurse claimed in her complaint that the accused threatened to go viral with the video in order to repeatedly rape her.
The victim requested justice from the SSP. Her complaint served as the foundation for the filing of a case under the relevant IPC sections.
The victim had reportedly been employed as a staff nurse in the medical college since 2019.
“The nurse working in the medical college had complained that some medical college staff gang raped her. A case has been registered on the basis of her complaint, and two persons have been detained,” Meerut SP (rural) Kamlesh Bahadur said. “Efforts are on to nab other accused,” he added.
