New Delhi: Dense fog engulfed the national capital on Friday morning, bringing visibility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to zero and causing significant disruptions in flight operations. Over 100 flights were delayed, leaving passengers stranded, while many other flights faced subsequent scheduling disruptions.

CAT III Operations in Place

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) confirmed that while landing and takeoffs continued, flights not compliant with CAT III technology were affected. CAT III systems enable aircraft operations during periods of low visibility.

“Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for updates. We regret any inconvenience caused,” DIAL posted on X at 6:35 am.

Key Details

•Impact: Over 100 flights delayed; no diversions reported.

•Cause: Adverse weather conditions with zero visibility.

•Capacity: IGIA, managed by DIAL, handles approximately 1,300 aircraft movements daily.

Passengers are urged to stay updated on flight schedules and plan their travel accordingly.
