Dhanbad, Oct 29: The Deoghar district administration has made the provision of a licence, for selling firecrackers in the district, mandatory in the wake of Diwali.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri has directed action against traders who sell firecrackers at different places in Babadham without acquiring license as well as proper permission from concerned officials of different departments.
“I have received information that in the wake of Diwali, firecrackers are being sold illegally at R Mitra High School campus Deoghar and urban areas and as well as headquarters of different blocks, without a license. The firecrackers can be sold only after getting a temporary license and at a permitted place. The order has been issued to take action under the ‘Explosive Substances Act’ against selling firecrackers without a license,” said the DC.
He said that interested traders can submit applications for temporary licenses to SDM Deoghar/ Madhupur with detailed information of their identity, selling spot’s description, map and other requirements. After inquiry of the SDM, the application would be forwarded for a recommendation of the district fire department. Thereafter, it would be sent to the district explosive department for final approval of license.
The DC also noted that the safety of people would not be compromised at any cost. So for the safe selling of firecrackers, this step is being taken by the administration. The sale of firecrackers at selected places would also be comfortable for people, he observed.
