Ranchi, July 12: Minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the newly built Deoghar airport, IndiGo announced a second flight from Deoghar – connecting Deoghar to Delhi. The airline’s Deoghar-Kolkata flight began its operations on Tuesday.
“Continuing its effort to strengthen regional air connectivity, IndiGo has announced a new flight between Delhi and Deoghar, effective from July 30, 2022. This flight is in addition to the Kolkata-Deoghar route being inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the airline said in a statement.
Inaugurating the Jharkhand’s second airport in Deoghar, built at a cost of Rs 441 crore, Modi said the airport will strengthen health and tourism apart from promoting trade and industry in the region. IndiGo is the first airline to operate from the temple city.
“Bookings for the new pair of flights began today. IndiGo remains committed to providing customers with an affordable, on-time, safe, and hassle-free travel experience on-board our lean clean flying machine,” IndiGo said, adding that the airport will boost connectivity to Jharkhand and nearby regions.
Last Friday, the airline announced flights between Kolkata and Deoghar. “The increased access to Deoghar – home to Baba Baidyanath Temple, Trikuta Parvata, Rama Krishna Mission Vidyapith and Naulakha Mandir – will also boost religious tourism in the region,” said Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, IndiGo.
While IndiGo will operate the Kolkata-Deoghar flights four times each week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, the flight to and from Delhi will be daily, IndiGo said.
