Dhanbad, Jan 3: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) vice-chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi today said that the university is under a pool of corruption and the percentage is fixed on each table for ‘normal work’
The VC, who assumed office hardly seven months ago in June 2022, while talking with media persons today, said that he is struggling hard to check the corruption for the smooth functioning of the university. During the week-long vacation, he suspended three staff involved in corruption but the mess still prevailed.
This is the first time in six years of university a vice-chancellor has alleged corruption in the institution.
“Due to prevailed corruption only I know how the university is functioning. But I have already announced that I would not tolerate corruption and chop off the hand who would do corruption,” he said.
Vice-chancellor said that the new building of the university is incomplete and he has to take over under the pressure of state government and local administration.
“Even third party assessment conducted by the government before handing over of building was done in my absence,” he alleged.
He further added that after getting the building handed over to him, he inspected the building at least 50 times and each time deficiencies surfaced in the new building. He pointed out that the digital system is not working properly and several rooms have developed cracks.
Even plaster is not proper. Switchboards, fans, and light settings are incomplete. Even the fountain has become a showpiece.
“I have asked the construction agency to remove the deficiencies. I think it would take a minimum of one year to shift into it.
BBMKU became a separate university in 2017 and to date, it is functioning in a makeshift building.
Vice-chancellor said he has planned to streamline the academic session of the university by March and would appoint faculty members in colleges soon. A proposal in this regard has already been sent to the state government.
“No contractual teachers working in colleges would be removed,” said vice-chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi.
Examination controller SK Barnbal and NEP coordinator Prof Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary were also with VC at the conference.
